Temporary Disaster Shelters, Inc. Company Detail

How much opportunity is there in doing business with the government?

In Fiscal year 2005, the federal government wrote 10.3 million "actions", commonly referred to as "contracts", for products and services needed during the year. In addition to this activity, the federal government's use of credit cards resulted in another 26.5 million transactions. This is a lot of activity, but what are the dollars? The contracts represented about $400 billion, while the credit cards amounted to sales of an additional $16.4 billion. If you think there is little or no opportunity to increase your revenue through government contracts, think again! Check out this article in Newsweek about the number of natural disasters declared in an election year.

Now, the financial benefits of these contracts are within your reach though our unique services.

Temporary Disaster Shelters, Inc. manages a dynamic national database of small to midsize contractors. We make that database available to large engineering groups contracted by FEMA and DHS (Department of Homeland Security) for their use in disaster impacted areas.

Your membership entitles you to become part of a growing network of contractors who, until now, have little or no direct access to this type of business. These opportunities have been almost exclusively reserved for huge national contractors who have benefited from billions of dollars worth of contracts awarded by agencies like DHS/FEMA.

We're changing the way FEMA does business!

The current FEMA process:

FEMA awards contracts to large IA-TAC contractors (Assistance Technical Assistance Contracts ) Click here for FEMA article Once the IA-TAC is notified of the disaster, they begin the task of setting up smaller contractors who then subcontract to other contractors and so on. There can be as many as 8 levels of contractors before the work trickles down to the local service provider/contractor (you).

This article from the FEMA web site entitled "How to Market to FEMA" explains the 25 steps you should take in order to have the possibility to be awarded work from FEMA: http://www.fema.gov/business/market.shtm

Or, you can register with TDS and we circumvent the 25 steps FEMA recommends by providing your business directly to the IA-TAC's. Read more below.

The TDS process:

We will be proactively working with the IA-TAC's to provide them with the local service providers/contractors to expedite the deployment of the housing units to the impacted areas. This will eliminate the numerous levels of additional contractors and will allow the IA-TAC's to conform to the Stafford Act which requires the use of local contractors like yourself. This is a much more efficient method of rapid contractor deployment and will ensure the victims of the disaster are placed in housing as quickly as possible.

National Contractor Database: Here's how it works

Once your registration has been completed, reviewed and accepted, you will be added to the National Contractor Database. When a disaster is declared, we will be notified and will use our database to determine which companies are near the impacted areas. Once those Network Providers have been identified, they will be notified and given the opportunity to accept or decline participation. All participating Network Provider's information will be submitted back to the bidding company where the bid will be put together and submitted. Once the bid is won, the Network Providers will be contacted regarding the units they can begin setting up as they are deployed. Post-deployment may also include emergency and warranty work if your company meets the required criteria.

Government Database Registration Assistance: (Included)

We will assist you in your submission to other databases maintained by the government to ensure your inclusion and to provide the maximum number of opportunities for your company in obtaining work.

Government Compliance Assistance: (Included)

We will ask you questions regarding your business that are "compliance specific". We do this to check to see if you have policies government agencies are looking for when contracting you for work. If you don't have the proper compliance policies in place, we'll help you get them in order to make you more "Government Friendly" and increase your chances at getting work and bids.

You may be asking yourself: "What's the catch? There must be a fee for this service."

There are absolutely no fees! We are paid by prime contractors to provide them with the names of the qualified companies in the areas where they are needed.
